30 Day Writing Meme - Day 6

  1. Tell us about your favorite writing project/universe that you've worked with and why.
  2. How many characters do you have? Do you prefer males or females?
  3. How do you come up with names, for characters (and for places if you’re writing about fictional places)?
  4. Tell us about one of your first stories/characters!
  5. By age, who is your youngest character? Oldest? How about “youngest” and “oldest” in terms of when you created them?
  6. Where are you most comfortable writing? At what time of day? Computer or good ol’ pen and paper?
    1. This is a good one!
    2. I'm most comfortable writing in pen and paper. Most of the current WiP has been written in those awesome little 70-page composition books by EcoGreenroom that come in packs of three or four at Target. They have excellent paper and are thin enough that they don't look daunting to fill. I think writing longhand uses different parts of the brain to writing in a computer, and though I'm closing the gap there, I still think I come up with different solutions to plot problems when I'm writing by hand. If you look at the piles and piles of writing I've produced, most of it is longhand, and I think it sort of...trained me to work that way best.
    3. I like to write in places that aren't intended for work, so it doesn't feel like work. I do a lot of it in bed, or at cafes, or on the couch while leaning on the armrest awkwardly. I like to write in the morning, when I'm just awake and haven't started worrying about the day yet, or late at night when the day is done. I do best when there's no one watching me, which is a problem right now because the computer is set up in the living room*. Cafes don't count because of the public privacy rule where you leave someone alone if you don't know them and they look busy.
      1. *After we move (again) I'm setting it up in my bedroom, and I'll reset the old one to factory presets and set that one up in the living room for everyone else to use. If it'll be reset, that is...
  7. Do you listen to music while you write? What kind? Are there any songs you like to relate/apply to your characters?

  23. How willing are you to kill your characters if the plot so demands it? What’s the most interesting way you’ve killed someone?
  24. Do any of your characters have pets? Tell us about them.
  25. Let’s talk art! Do you draw your characters? Do others draw them? Pick one of your OCs and post your favorite picture of him!
  26. Along similar lines, do appearances play a big role in your stories? Tell us about them, or if not, how you go about designing your characters.
  27. Have you ever written a character with physical or mental disabilities? Describe them, and if there’s nothing major to speak of, tell us a few smaller ones.
